£5M PRICE TAG FOR WINDASS
SHEFFIELD Wednesday have reportedly slapped a huge asking price on Josh
Windass, which could rule the majority of clubs chasing him out of the race.
The forward is the subject of plenty of speculation about his future this summer, with Hull City among those to have been linked.
Stoke City, Fulham, Birmingham, West Brom and Preston North End have all been suggested as possible destinations, although the Tigers have been ruled out of the running.
Millwall are also in the race, and have seen two bids knocked back by the Owls, the most recent said to be in the region of £1m.
But, according to the latest reports, Wednesday will be looking for five times that amount from any club looking to take Windass off their hands.
The Owls have reportedly slapped a £5m price tag on the forward, who has a year left on his contract at Hillsborough.
Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri appears to be taking a firm stance on his star man, and the reported asking price would almost certainly put a lot of Championship clubs off pursuing a deal.
With the Owls beset by financial problems though as they prepare for life in League One next season, they could be forced into settling for less.
Tigers legend Dean
Windass left the door open for a possible Hillsborough exit for his son, and suggested a much more reasonable asking price.
“I know Josh wants to stay there, but money will determine, I think he’s around the £2m mark people are talking, but I don’t know [whether he will still be there],” Windass said.
