Flores: I want to be playing regularly

WHY MIDFIELDER WAS SO KEEN TO JOIN COBBLERS

Jordan Flores has lifted the lid on his short spell at Hull City, after completing a season long loan move to Northampton Town. Flores signed for the Tigers in January after spending a month training with the club over Christmas following his departure from Irish outfit Dundalk.

The 25-year-old former Wigan midfielder failed to start a single game for the Tigers, and was restricted to just three appearances off the bench, and hopes to get regular football at Sixfields with the League Two side.

“I spoke to the manager and people around the club and he offered me the game-time to come in on loan and play,” said Flores.

“You can’t turn opportunities like that down. Once I heard there was interest, I looked further into it and I wanted to come down.

“Playing regularly is the most important thing for me now. When I was over in Ireland, our season finished in November and I was on quite a high because I had played in the Europa League group stages and I felt like I was playing well.”

Despite signing an 18-month contract in the New Year, Flores is likely to have played his last game for City with his deal with the Cobblers taking him through to the end of the new season, and he hopes regular football will aid his cause.

“Obviously I went to Hull after that, in January, but I didn’t get the game-time I wanted for one reason or another so next season is all about getting that game-time and being as successful as I can be with Northampton Town.”

Flores, though, admits it will take him time to get to grips with his new surroundings.

“I did come across them when I came off the bench for Hull against Northampton up in Hull towards the end of the season,” he said.

“Hull were a very strong team last season, I think everyone saw that for themselves, and they did very well, but other than that I haven’t really come across the club.

“But over the next few weeks, and with pre-season starting, I’m sure I’ll find out what everyone is about and we’ll all be pushing in the same direction.”
