JAKE’S INJURY CONCERN

-

BRETT Hodgson is facing a nervous wait after seeing Jake Connor pick up two injuries while playing for the Combined Nations All Stars on Friday night.

The full-back missed Hull FC’S gritty win over Huddersfield Giants in order to represent the

All Stars against England at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and he impressed as Tim Sheens’ side won 26-24.

However, he was taken off in the second half after picking up a suspected broken jaw and a knee injury.

The jaw injury occurred in the first half but Connor played through the pain before eventually coming off after an hour with both issues.

He will be assessed further in the coming days and given FC were without 10 players through injury on Friday night, the head coach will have his fingers crossed for good news.

“I think everyone got through OK,” Hodgson said when speaking about Hull’s win over Huddersfield at the KCOM Stadium. “But there’s obviously a slight concern about Jake Connor from the All Stars game but we’re waiting on information about that over the weekend.

“It happened when they scored their first try, he got a boot to the jaw, which was about 10 minutes into the game.

“I spoke to Jake and he seemed in good spirits.

“His knee is a bit sore and he didn’t seem too concerned about his jaw but we’ll wait and see what happens with it.

“They’re the things that when you’re in the heat of the battle and he’s playing in a representative game, I would have been surprised had he wanted to come off.

“If it was bad enough that he couldn’t have continued then we would have been asking some questions but the fact is Jake felt that he was OK so we put trust in the player for that.”
