ON a royal visit yesterday, Princess Anne spoke to instructors and students at the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield before heading to Hull Marina to meet with staff from Hull charity Cat Zero.

At the Defence School of Transport in Normandy Barracks, Princess Anne was greeted by instructors at the school, who talked her through the levels of training offered as well as the protocols that were in place over the Covid-19 pandemic.

She met with the training delivery team, licence acquisition instructors, military vehicle training instructors and specialist vehicle training instructors.

Later in the afternoon, Her Royal Highness made her way to Hull Marina, where she met members of Catzero, a Hull-based charity which supports young people, families, the unemployed and veterans using a 72ft Challenge yacht to offer its programmes.

Catzero director Dave Bertholini said: “This is an excellent time to welcome Her Royal Highness to the Humber region, as Catzero continues to expand its services to young people, families, the unemployed and veterans.

“For some time, Catzero has been working with The Fishmongers’ Company, through former Young’s Seafood CEO and Catzero supporter Wynne Griffiths. The Fishmongers’ Company recently hosted several of our young participants on a trip to London. Enabling them to understand more about fish processing and the wider industry, the trip was invaluable for some of the participants as they begin to consider their future careers, particularly across the Humber region.”

Delivery officer for Catzero David Andrews said he felt privileged to receive recognition from Princess Anne for all the hard work the charity does.
