Who shone and who flattered to deceive for KR?

reserves of mental resilience in a difficult 2021, which saw him stuck behind Quinlan in the pecking order before suffering an untimely injury. Dagger got his reward during the run-in, showing exactly what he can bring to the team in a series of brave and committed performances. 7

Mikey Lewis (13 apps, eight tries): It was a season of two halves for the youngster as he fixed up his defensive issues to star for the Robins at crunch time in Super League. The half-back scored a number of memorable tries, including one of the greatest in play-off history to help KR overcome Warrington. 7

Ethan Ryan (five apps, two tries): One fractured scaphoid is unlucky, a second on the opposite wrist is just plain cruel. The winger looked good when he played and will almost be like a new signing next season, along with Elliot Minchella who featured only twice in 2021. 6

Rowan Milnes (11 apps, three tries): It was a big year for the youngster as he got his first proper taste of Super League. He experienced the highs and lows of top-level rugby league along the way, producing enough evidence to suggest he has a big future. 6

Will Maher (17 apps): The towering prop divides opinion like nobody else in the squad but Smith is clearly happy with the job he has done, rewarding him with a new deal. Maher is relatively solid in defence, carries bodies with him when he has the ball and is largely error-free, making only three all year. 6

Luis Johnson (20 apps, one try): The young forward’s brave decision to leave Warrington in search of regular game time was rewarded with a breakthrough season for the Robins. Johnson made a home for himself on the right edge through hard work and showed enough on both sides of the ball to create excitement about where he could take his game. 7

Muizz Mustapha (11 apps): Small in stature with a big heart and a thirst for work, it was a frustrating year for the on-loan Leeds prop after going three months without a game at one point. But Mustapha will take a lot from it, after an encouraging end to the season. Jimmy Keinhorst (nine apps, three tries): Keinhorst’s time at Craven Park appeared to be up but he never threw in the towel and finished the year playing play-off rugby. As well as showing he is wholehearted and a proper team player, the versatile 31-year-old proved he still has something to offer at Super League level.
