THERE’S nothing like a juicy burger to tantalise your taste buds.

And one burger joint that provides that perfect “filthy” burger is Junk Soul Smothered.

The pop-up stall and delivery service is the indie junk food spot boasting huge toppings, rainbow buns and mouth-watering dripping sauce.

It runs out of a kitchen in Chanterlands Avenue and the aim of the brand is to help Hull become a “vegan capital”.

Customers can order online for delivery or try the food at one of the takeaway’s pop up shops. They often cater weddings or can be seen in spots around the city.

What’s more the owners often travel to Scunthorpe to serve at Café Indie, in the High Street.

Andy, a former head chef at Gourmet Burger Kitchen, runs Junk Soul Smothered and decided to set up the business after going vegan.

He said: “I previously worked with a lot of meat-based products. After turning vegan last year for health reasons, I’ve decided to put my experience with junk food into something that’s missing in Hull. That’s a fully vegan, psychedelic junk food brand. There’s dozens of fully vegan restaurants now popping up around the country, so we need to up our game in Hull.”

On the menu there are a range of burgers including Classic Smothered, BBQ Please, Bacon Double Cheese, Tiers of Joy, Sriracha Chick, Chick’n Mayo, Basic Cheese.

There are also some toasted sandwiches to choose from and sides such as hash browns, loaded fries, and fried cauliflower.

The burger shop has its own mascot named JS Smothered, who goes on a “journey to flavour”.

According to Andy: “The flavour on Earth was apocalypse. JS Smothered decided that an objective was clear here on Earth: deliver flavour, or see a world once blessed with innocence collapse into a dark nightmare of flavourless and funk-less souls.”
