Will Mccann opt to change winning side?

-

GRANT Mccann may well opt to make a key change to his side for today’s trip to face Reading at the SCL Stadium.

The Tigers have reported no fresh injury worries for the trek to Royal Berkshire and will be boosted by the return to fitness of both Matt Smith and Tyler Smith after the pair have been struggling with hamstring problems.

Last weekend’s 2-1 win over Millwall – City’s fourth in a row – saw Mccann use a hugely attackminded 3-5-2 formation with

Ryan Longman and Keane Lewispotter in wide areas with George Honeyman operating in the number 10 position behind Mallik

Wilks and Josh Magennis.

Despite such a strong performance from his side last time out, the City head coach hinted there could be a change to his side.

Away from home, Mccann will likely bring back Callum Elder at the expense of Longman to give the side a little extra defensive cover and continue with Lewispotter in the opposite wing-back role.

Given the continued absence of Josh Emmanuel, Lewie Coyle and Alfie Jones, it’s unlikely the City boss would look to alter a formation which has proved so successful in the past month.

“The results have been good for us over the last four games but like I always say, we assess how we feel we’re going to hurt Reading,” Mccann said ahead of the trip south.

“The team isn’t always necessarily going to be the same as the team that won the previous week.

“We do a lot of work in terms of areas of the pitch where we feel we can hurt them. We have to work diligently in terms of what we do and be consistent in terms of our approach.”

Predicted starting Xi: Baxter, Elder, Greaves, Bernard, Mcloughlin, Smallwood, Docherty, Honeyman, Wilks, Lewis-potter, Magennis.
