HULL has done it again for another year as the city scoops the accolade for being one of the “worst places to live”, according to a residents’ poll.

Results from the annual Ilivehere survey are in, and it’s not great news for Hull residents.

Sitting at number 24 on the list of the “Top 50 Worst Places to Live in England in 2022”, Kingston-uponhull has dramatically improved since last year, when it ranked a majestic number five.

The poll is based on votes from more than 110,000 readers, according to the site which reviews places to live based on residents’ experiences.

Citizens of Hull described it as like a “city under siege”, with “a complete anti-education and anti-authority attitude running through the veins of the place”.

Underneath its ranking sat the succinct critique of “a living hell for decent folk”.

Although based on no hard statistics other than readers’ opinions, the survey is meant as harmless fun, according to the site.

On the other side of the Humber and pipping Hull to the post by six places this year was Grimsby, which was described as “a backward, cold and unfriendly s***hole” at number 18.

Top of this year’s list meanwhile were Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, Huddersfield and Luton.

A write-up of the city on the site describes Hull as somewhere to be avoided “at all costs”.

“It is a den of crime and misery,” one reviewer said.

“St Stephens is a development of the city centre doomed from the off, to be overpriced by the greedy council and vandalised to a state of ugliness by the mindless inhabitants of this end of the earth city.”
