21 coronavirus deaths in area in past week

CORONAVIRUS killed 21 people in Hull and the East Riding in the week up to Tuesday, May 10, with a further 887 people catching it.

The Government’s latest rolling figures show the case rate per 100,000 people across the region was 109.6 for Hull and 127.3 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Thursday, May 10, the latest weekly data available.

A total of 102,089 new coronavirus cases were recorded nationally in the week, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 22,144,628 with 1,512 new deaths recorded, making a total of 176,424.

Hull’s infection rate has fallen from 180.6 in a week. The East Riding’s rate of cases per 100,000 people dropped from 185.6 during the same period.

Government data up to Wednesday, May 4, shows that in the UK, 142,390,214 jabs have been given so far, 53,264,512 first doses, 49,780,389 second doses and 39,345,313 boosters.
