Hodgson’s ‘stay disciplined’ plea to Gale and Reynolds

BRETT Hodgson has asked Josh Reynolds and Luke Gale to remain disciplined and mindful of their actions ahead of their Hull FC returns.

The pair will step back into the fold this week after serving bans and they are expected to be involved as the Black and Whites travel to Merseyside to take on St Helens.

Neither Gale nor Reynolds have produced their best form this season due to a number of lengthy disruptions.

Club captain Gale was hit with a five-game ban following his reckless actions on his home debut against Saints and he was given another two-match penalty notice after being found guilty of tripping in the clash against Warrington Wolves.

Reynolds, on the other hand, missed a handful of matches earlier in the season with an elbow issue, but was absent last time out after being handed a one-game ban for other contrary behaviour.

Hodgson expects better from his senior halfbacks and ahead of round 12’s trip to the Totally Wicked Stadium, he’s urging his pivots to keep on the right side of the rules.

“To be disciplined,” Hodgson said when asked about the message he would be giving Gale and Reynolds. “We’re obviously in a situation where at their own doing they’ve fallen out of the team for that little period they were suspended.

“The important thing is that they are disappointed and they understand what’s required from that point of view. They both contribute in positive ways when they’re on the field, they just have to remain on it.

“I think they’re both wanting more. They’re probably in a situation where they could have contributed in a different way based on that discipline but that’s done now and we have to move forward.

“They’ll be in the squad this week so how we go around what they look like on game day, time will tell.”
