Will Davies finally make a return to the Tigers?

-

HULL City are reportedly keen on re-signing Derby County centre back Curtis Davies this summer, according to the Sun.

Davies is out of contract this month and due to the Rams’ ongoing ownership issues, they have not been able to offer him an extension.

City were keen on signing Davies last summer on their promotion from League One, and while he was keen to return to East Yorkshire, a deal never materialised and so he signed a new one-year contract at Derby.

The 37-year-old was also recommended to Tigers boss Shota

Arveladze in January but City declined to make a move.

Hull are likely to face stiff competition from fellow Championship side Bristol City in order to sign Davies this summer, with manager Nigel Pearson said to be very keen on the Derby captain.

Prospective new Rams owner Chris Kirchner would also like to keep Davies despite their relegation to League One, though that will heavily depend on how quickly a deal with Mel Morris can get done.

Davies would bring an abundance of experience to City’s backline with well over 500 professional appearances under his belt, including 314 in the Championship.

He was part of the Tigers side who got to the 2014 FA Cup final, and earned promotion to the Premier League in 2016.

City are also reportedly eyeing a deal for Antalyaspor holding midfielder Fernando. The 30-year-old only made the move to the Turkish outfit in January, penning an 18-month deal.

Fernando has been very impressive during his time at the club, though, netting four goals and providing three assists in 14 appearances.

Given his pedigree, a deal for the Brazilian would be considered quite a coup if City can get it over the line.
