Ohh My is making a fuss over falafel

CHECK OUT NEW EATERY IN PRINCES AVE

WHEN I made my way down Princes Avenue earlier this week, I couldn’t help but notice a new business in the property formerly occupied by Cactus Café.

Ohh My is a new veggie and vegan eatery that serves falafel wraps, salads, bubble tea and organic coffee.

Welcomingly designed with rustic furniture and colourful menus above the bar, Ohh My is certainly easy on the eye - but would it prove to be just as easy on the palate?

I decided to grab a falafel and tabbouleh salad box for myself and find out.

While I was waiting for my food to be prepared, I spoke to store supervisor Jamie Spence who was wonderfully polite and helped make the place feel all the more inviting.

Speaking about the opening, Jamie said: “We’ve had a great opening so far and we’re already working on customer feedback and developing the menu.

“We want to make the business as inclusive as possible and offer something for everyone.

“As well as our bubble teas, we serve some of the best organic coffee on the Avenues - it really is beautiful.

“We open at 9am, just that little bit earlier than other places down here so that people can pop in and grab their morning coffee.”

While I waited for my food, I decided to take Jamie up on his claim about the coffee.

As a self-confessed coffee snob, I was keen to find out whether or not this coffee really was some of the best on the Avenues.

Wow, he wasn’t kidding. The coffee at Ohh My is fantastic and the new business is well worth a visit on those grounds alone. I’m not exaggerating, it really is good.

When my falafel salad came, I was pleased to see that Jamie had given me a generous serving of tahini on top of some really crispy falafel.

The whole thing looked and smelled very appetising and I couldn’t wait to tuck in.

The falafel was excellent and the tabbouleh salad was wonderfully light.

The whole thing was delicious and very fresh - the perfect meal to enjoy in the oncoming summer heat.

For my falafel and tabbouleh salad and a cup of coffee, the bill came to around £10.

A little steep compared to other places nearby, but it was all of a very high quality so I’m happy to ignore that.

For veggies, vegans and meat-eaters alike, there is a lot to enjoy here and once more salad fillings are introduced, hopefully some kind of chickpea concoction among them, Ohh My could really flourish.

I’ll have to return in the near future to try out a falafel wrap and one of the bubble teas.

So, if you’re a fan of freshly made falafel and exceptional coffee, head down to Ohh My and give it a try.
