New taxi firm to ‘bring back that personal touch’

BUSINESS AIMS TO FILL GAP IN MARKET

HULL’S newest taxi firm WER2 has officially opened for business, with its owners promising the people of Hull an “honest” and “old school” service.

Business partners Steve Barley and Thomas Tozer have set up a newly renovated office in Walton Street, west Hull, and want to fill the gap in the market for commuters on that side of the city.

They have launched plans to encourage more drivers to operate in the area, as well as offering fares 50p a mile lower than other competitors.

The team at WER2 want to bring the personal touch back to taxi service in the city and address the lack of reliable taxi provision.

Following their grand opening event on Saturday, WER2 Hull is finally open for business.

Speaking to Hull Live, Steve said: “We’re trying to change the industry a little bit and give the people of Hull a better service.

“We want to go back to the old days where you actually ring an office and speak to an operator, bringing back a bit of that personal touch.

“We want to create a happy network because we feel at the moment in the taxi industry that it’s all just negativity.

“People are being told one thing and getting another, whereas with us, you ring and you get an honest answer.”

Steve continued: “In terms of helping this community we’ve paid for a community defibrillator that is now registered with the NHS. The reason for this is that Tom and I are both ex-services, with Tom serving 17 years in the fire service, so it’s quite close to our hearts. We’ve also introduced a blue light card 10 per cent discount.

“We want to go back to the old school of taxiing – the fundamental basics of taxiing, you don’t need to overcomplicate it. You have an operator on the phone, they answer the call, and they give the customer an honest answer.

“If they choose to have that car, you ensure that the car is on time, that it’s clean, and the driver has people skills. Honesty and integrity will drive this business forward.”

In closing, Steve said: “It’s all about getting that crossover between happy drivers, happy customers, and a happy office. If we can connect those three things together, then we’re laughing.

“Give us a chance to show you what we can do – we might not always be able to get a car immediately, but we will always give you an honest answer. We’re here for the community and we just want to help the people of Hull get from A to B.”

You can book a taxi with WER2 by calling 01482 770077 or by visiting its office in Walton Street.
