Villagers exit ER Cup to Rangers

- Douglas, Mycoe (Baldwin), Tilsley (Tarbotton), Donald, Start, Emerton (Earl), Dickens (Dennett), Heeley, Buttle, Antonio, East (Corner).

NORTH Ferriby FC exited the East Riding Senior Cup as they were defeated 3-1 by Hall Road Rangers.

The visitors were 3-0 up but a consolation late on by Tom Corner ensured the Villagers got on the score sheet.

Chris Bolder made nine changes from the victory over Handsworth at the weekend.

Niall Tilsley and Robbie Start retaining their place in the side.

Antonio Ezeagba made his first start for the first team, after six previous appearances as a substitute. Jordan Douglas returned in goal, for what was his 50th appearance.

The visitors took the lead when they capitalised on Ferriby losing possession.

Winger Tommy Waud looked up and saw Douglas off his line. Waud’s volley went over Douglas and into the goal.

The Villagers went close when Ezeagba saw his header saved by

Haydn Withill. The Hall Road stopper denied Oli Donald from close range. Ezeagba connected with a ball into the box but could not keep his effort down.

The visitors doubled their lead through former Villager Tom Oliver. The Villagers were caught on the counterattack. A good ball from Lewis Andrew found Oliver who finished well.

In the second half, Ezeagba received the ball from Danny Earl but saw his effort blocked before it could trouble Withill.

Waud found himself behind the Ferriby backline and chipped Douglas for Hall Road’s third. Corner headed home a consolation.

Bolder said: “From our point of view we are gutted and disappointed to be exiting the cup. Full credit to Hall Road, they came with a game plan and implemented it perfectly.”
