Youngster shoots down Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent

-

A HULL schoolboy shot down judge Simon Cowell with a cheeky dig about money before his group went on to sail through the auditions.

Harrison, 11, has already been seen on television this year after he took part in Junior Bake Off, where he failed to win. But he and his fellow performers tasted success on Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) after getting four yesses from the judges.

He is part of the East Yorkshirebased RS Dance, which helps train children in ballet, as well as modern, street, tap, musical and jazz.

On Saturday, he was part of theatre group Boycanto, when their rendition of Revolting Children from the musical Matilda impressed the BGT judges. But it was Harrison’s quip towards Simon that got everyone talking. Introducing the group, Harrison said: “We are from all over England and we are here to promote boys dancing, singing and acting.”

Amanda Holden then asked Harrison what would mean more: performing in front of King Charles, or winning £250,000? Harrison immediately said performing for King Charles.

Simon then gave a gesture suggesting money was more important and Harrison quipped: “Simon, Simon, you’ve got to remember, it’s not all about the money.”

That left the crowd and Alesha Dixon, in particular, in stitches. Simon replied: “I 100 per cent agree,” before Amanda said: “Well done, Harrison!”

He and his fellow performers went on to perform the number from Matilda with gusto with a standing ovation from the crowd.

Afterwards, Simon said: “That was a really good audition but just be really badly behaved going forward.”

Alesha added: “My daughter is obsessed with Matilda and I think children are going to absolutely love you. Your passion and energy was fantastic.

Bruno Tonioli also praised the group saying: “Your attitude was spot on, your energy was spot on. You’re so bad and I loved it.”
