THE Beverley Gin Festival is returning to Beverley Minster this week, providing a boozy weekend of fun for fans of the spirit.

The popular event will be hosted across Friday, May 12, and Saturday, May 13. Supported by great live music and tasty street food, the festival is packed with an incredible array of British and international gins as well as other specialty beers and cocktails.

Looking ahead to the event, festival director Rob Snaith said: “The festival is about the appreciation of great, unique and original gins, but more than that Beverley Gin Festival is about friends and families and groups of people having a friendly, good time; there’s something quite special about a drink, dance and bite to eat together.

“There’s always a great buzz about the place and we’ve had another fantastic response and support from the people of Beverley, Hull and East Yorkshire, who really know how to have a good time.

“This year the festival has been attracting more visitors from all over Yorkshire, the North and the rest of the country including Birmingham, Doncaster, London, Newcastle, Pontefract and Scarborough.

“We are lucky to once again have mouthwatering street food from

Billy Bob’s that is tasty, moreish, well-prepared, carefully cooked and rapidly served.

“And we’ve selected a super mix of live music acts, with funk, disco, blues. soul and popular songs that are sure to get you on the dance floor.”

As well as gins from the UK and around the world, a selection of craft beer, Prosecco, and cocktails will be available, including a signature cocktail created for this year’s

festival by House of Bevs (HOBS), the Beverley cocktail and coffee bar. Gins and festival souvenirs will be available at the festival shop and there will be gin tastings with distillers on hand to chat to festival goers.

Popular local musicians performing at the festival include Annalee and Lilly Mckai.

The festival’s four sessions are Friday, May 12, 6pm-10pm, Saturday, May 13, noon-4pm, 3pm-7pm and 6pm-10pm.

A few tickets are still available, priced at £20 for each of the four sessions, which includes two drinks, a personal festival gin glass, a metal straw, pen and a custom designed festival programme guide.

The festival’s sophisticated and inclusive approach includes nonalcoholic gins and beers.

This year’s festival has been supported by Beverley hospitality businesses, the Atom Bar, HOBS and Soju by Sumo, who are offering festival goers a discount on purchases during the festival weekend, and at The Potting Shed in the week leading up to the festival.

The growth in this year’s festival has been partly supported by a Love Your High Street grant from East Riding of Yorkshire Council and an ICT for Growth Grant from the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s Grow My SME programme.
