THERE’S NO REST FOR ME NOW

CURTAIN FALLS ON CITY’S SEASON, BUT ROSENIOR HAS PLENTY OF

- By BARRY COOPER barry.cooper@reachplc.com @bazdjcooper

LIAM Rosenior says work on reshaping his Hull City squad will begin in earnest after the Tigers’ season came to an end with a goalless draw at Luton Town on Monday.

Rosenior held a number of meetings last week with his squad, informing them of his plans moving forward, and those plans will now be stepped up with the season over.

A 16th draw of the campaign gave encouragement to Rosenior, but also showed where City must improve next term if they’re to turn themselves into a side capable of challenging for a play-off place.

Some of their play at Kenilworth Road was excellent and further emphasised why Rosenior and the City supporters have growing belief going into what’s expected to be a busy summer of incomings and outgoings at the MKM Stadium, but their lack of cutting edge was a problem.

The caveat to those struggles in the top half of the pitch has been Rosenior’s inability to call upon a recognised striker, having had to operate for the last eight games without a striker, owing to the continued absence of leading scorer Oscar Estupinan, loan man Aaron Connolly and Benjamin Tetteh.

“Anyone who understands the game can see I’ve got a group of players who completely understand the way we want to play. We have a real identity.

“They will come back for pre-season with that same understanding and knowledge and be able to help the players who we’ll be bringing into the club,” the Tigers boss told the Mail.

“If we can just tweak the forward areas and the squad a little bit, I think the difference is going to be huge next season. There’s a lot to be excited about. There’s no rest for me - I’ve got to get on the phone. We’ve got to make sure we’ve got a really strong squad for next season.”
