POET’S CORNER

- J Towers, Hedon.

Getting Old

Someday when you realise you are getting old,

Look back at your life because you will have stories to be told!.

Stories of good times and sometimes bad,

Sometimes so happy and sometimes so sad.

Working for your family often hard toil and strife,

But if you were lucky you earned a good life.

A life with good friends and family around,

Even if your not cash rich and money did not abound.

You realise who your true friends are and often you realise,

Many have always been your friends but some could be a nice surprise. When you have the time to reflect and mull things over at your ease, You may be surprised at how many of your memories will really really please.

And help you pass along the time you now have for your leisure,

With such a variety of nice thoughts giving so much pleasure.

Despair

Look round where you live. Do you like what you see?

Has it changed over the years? Is it the worst it’s ever been?

Is it beholding to the eye? Perhaps could shed a tear.

Franmac.

Remembering how it used to be. When you moved in, the year?

You may now shake your head. Friends you had alas no more. Perhaps you’re now all alone, No longer feel secure.

The promised land of Milk and Honey.

Milk turned; Honey pot gone dry? Nothing left for you to do

But hold your head and cry.

Ron Nozedar.

Untitled

She isn’t coming home today A life cut short I’m sad to say We carry on with work and play But she isn’t coming home today Hearts are heavy, a loved one’s gone Never to sing spring’s hopeful song A family broken and friends bemused

How did this happen, she didn’t choose?

There is no justice, it’s just not fair A city mourns, the family despair While a gym, TV, three meals a day Awaits the low life he took away

She isn’t coming home today A lonely place she has to lay There could be something to be done

A posthumous degree for this special one
