HULL City have struck up a relationship with Italian giants Roma in a move which could see the Championship club benefit from the expertise of one of Serie A’s biggest clubs.

The Tigers have been keen to secure a collaboration with a top European club over the course of the past 12 months and have investigated a number of potential link-ups, including with Roma’s Serie A rivals Juventus.

Vice-chairman Tan Kesler was in Rome over the weekend and met with Roma’s general manager Tiago Pinto to discuss the potential arrangement before the Europa League finalists’ 2-2 draw with Salernitana at the Stadio Olimpico.

Both clubs, the Mail understands, will share best practices on how best to develop young talent through their respective academies while on a boardroom level, the two will work together around the football business side of City and the Giallorossi.

There is the possibility, too, of City benefiting from Roma’s stream of talent should a potential target fit into Liam Rosenior’s plans at the MKM Stadium, with the Tigers keen to tap into a market they believe to be one that’s robust and tactically suitable for both the Championship, and potentially, the Premier League.

As part of the blossoming Anglo-italian relationship, it’s also understood that a friendly between City and Roma could be arranged for later this summer.

But that is yet to be confirmed with Jose Mourinho’s side set to tour Asia with a clash against his former club Tottenham in Singapore followed by two games in South Korea against

Wolves and local side Incheon United in late July.

City, meanwhile, are yet to confirm their pre-season schedule, though Rosenior’s side and the club’s Under-21s will be heading out to Turkiye, with Fenerbahce’s plush training facilities their base for a 10-day camp in early July.
