City are linked with Gomez
HULL City’s primary focus this summer will be to strengthen their attacking ranks, with Liam
Rosenior keen to add a sprinkling of magic dust in the top third of the pitch.
As defensively sound as Rosenior made City in his 28 games in charge, going the other way became something of a problem with only 30 goals scored in those Championship outings.
If City are to consider themselves as genuine contenders for a play-off place next term, then adding goals to their team will be absolutely crucial, and so too, will be keeping them fit and available.
One name linked in the Turkish media has been Maxi Gomez, the 26-year-old striker currently plying his trade in Turkiye with Super Lig side Trabzonspor.
Lopez, who left Valencia to join the Istanbul-based club last summer, has bagged seven goals in his 34 games so far this term and has a contract until summer 2025, plus a 12-month option.
That is a deal that at this stage, will not be happening, with the figures involved believed to be too much for City given the FFP constraints they must work within this summer, after a heavy campaign of investment 12 months ago.
The link to the Uruguayan, however, is a sign of where Rosenior’s focus will be this summer.
Bolstering his forward ranks will be key, with Aaron Connolly now back at Brighton and both Oscar Estupinan and Benjamin Tetteh both suffering from injury concerns.
Adding firepower will be key, and that is an area Rosenior has channelled much of his focus on during his regular recruitment meetings with vice-chairman Tan Kesler and head of recruitment Lee Darnbrough.
Wingers will also be the priority this summer, as will a player capable of flourishing in the number 10 role.
City hope to open talks with a player they spoke with a year ago over a possible move to East Yorkshire, while another highlyrated winger has expressed his desire to play for the Tigers.
