‘No wonder your mummy died’ The sick taunts of abuser as she beat husband

SADISM REVEALED IN CRUEL TORMENTS

“NO wonder your mummy died, I’d have f***ing died being related to you” - these are the vicious words snarled by Sheree Spencer as she rounded on her husband in yet another wine-fuelled rage.

She chose those words to hurt, knowing the death of his mother when he was just nine years old was one of her husband’s most painful memories.

Richard Spencer has laid bare the abuse he suffered for 20 years in the new documentary My Wife, My Abuser: The Secret Footage which is now streaming on My5.

Hull Live reported on the criminal trial of Sheree when she was sentenced to four years imprisonment last year.

The details heard in court were shocking enough, but nothing can prepare you for the level of sadism exposed in the 36 videos Richard was secretly filming.

From the outside, Sheree looked put-together and some people may have envied her life. A sixfigure salary working as a senior manager for the Ministry of Justice, a large detached house in the East Yorkshire village of Bubwith with a shiny Jaguar on the driveway, and three daughters.

But the footage shows Sheree drinking heavily and beating Richard with her fists and calling him degrading names: “B*tch”, “p*ssy”, and “fat c***”.

A neighbour of Richard and Sheree’s, who spoke out in the documentary, says Sheree once urinated in the front seat of the car and demanded he clean it up.

Speaking in the documentary, Richard said he does not recognise himself when he watches the tapes

back. He said: “The most demoralising thing that happened to me. I was sitting on the bedroom floor because Sheree wouldn’t let me sit on the bed. She got up to go to the toilet and I was facing where the bathroom was, the next minute I just realised that she defecated on my head.”

In one of the audio clips from the hidden cameras, Richard said: “I don’t deserve it.” Sheree replied: “You do deserve it. Go and scrub away you c*** and clean my s*** up.”

Humberside Police began investigating when a friend of Richard’s saw the disturbing footage and reported the abuse. Patrol officer PC Cooke recalled that Sheree was “in drink” and didn’t seem shocked when he told her she was being arrested on suspicion of common assault in 2021.

In an interview at Humberside Police’s headquarters in Clough Road, Sheree tried to flip the story and made out Richard was the abuser. They showed her a video, without the audio, where she is holding a carving knife while confronting Richard.

Sheree claimed she was the victim, stating: “I wanted to give him it because he had threatened me, wanted to kill me. He’d rather kill me than divorce me. I reached for the knife because, if he wants to kill me, just do it.”

Her face fell when they replayed the clip, this time with audio. Her savage insults were loud and clear and the made-up story crumbled around her.

Sheree pleaded guilty to coercive and controlling behaviour and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Judge Kate Rayfield jailed Sheree for four years and gave her an indefinite restraining order at Hull Crown Court and told her she’d caused Richard “significant psychological harm”.
