‘It’s no days off, foot on the throat again’

LUCKLEY ISSUES LONDON BRONCOS TASK

WHILE Hull KR might be the overwhelming favourites in their upcoming game against London Broncos, prop Sam Luckley insists what transpires is just as important an indicator of where the side is at in its quest to reach the top.

The Robins are a staggering 1/200 on to defeat the Broncos, who have been given a 36 head start on the handicap. Rovers are in good form, having won their last three games while London have suffered seven losses from seven so far this season, conceding 288 points in the process.

But Rovers’ favourite Geordie is adamant that the contest gives the team a chance to prove complacency isn’t an issue and that there is a ruthless streak about them, having perhaps been guilty of taking their foot off the gas against Hull FC last week.

“Good teams back it up,” Luckley said. “We backed it up for most of the game last week, but we’ve got to back it up again and all the way through. It’s no days off, foot on the throat again and hopefully we can put a good game together. The good teams keep doing it and doing it, hopefully, that will be us again.”

As for Luckley himself, the 28-year-old is starting to find his impressive form from last year, having missed the pre-season and the start of the campaign as a result of ankle surgery. He returned to the side after missing the first two games of the year and has

gradually increased his workloads since.

“I did 50 or 60 minutes against Salford which got me some fitness back,” he said.

“I’m starting to look more like myself with carries and taking the contact; I’m still getting the knocks; I just dislocated my finger, but I’ve got the feeling in my legs now and the little movements.

“I think I’ve been getting better each week, and hopefully people can see that. I feel like I’m getting back to my normal self.”
