Orchestra to bring sensational concert

HULL CITY HALL TO HOST A NIGHT WITH CZECH NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

-

HULL City Hall is delighted to welcome the Czech National Symphony Orchestra to Hull on Thursday, May 23.

Over the past 30 years, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra has grown to become one of the leading Czech ensembles, currently ranking among the most highly sought-after orchestras in Europe. Its glowing reputation can be attributed to the members’ versatility, performing a wide range of genres, spanning classical works, film music, jazz and more.

Internationally acclaimed conductor and Czech National Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director Steven Mercurio leads the orchestra. A sought-after collaborator on

many award-winning recordings, arrangements and film projects, Steven has worked with a wide range of performers across multiple genres including Sting, Chick

Corea, and Andrea Bocelli.

Joining the orchestra will be violinist Chloë Hanslip. Chloë made her debut on the international stage as a teenager, appearing at the BBC Proms at fourteen.

She has gone on to perform at major venues across the UK and the rest of the world.

This sensational concert opens with Smetana’s Má Vlast: ‘Vltava’ (My Country) – an evocative orchestral picture of the river that flows through Prague, filled with ebbing and flowing woodwind and strings.

From there, Dvorák’s Concerto for Orchestra in A Minor and Two Slavonic Dances both paint a picture

of his Czech home and are filled with joyful interpretations of traditional folk tunes.

The grand finale will be Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 which resounds with a wonderful blend of gravitas and rising melodies, with the fourth and final movement launching into a frantic fanfare that makes for a spectacular showpiece to end the concert.

The Czech National Symphony Orchestra comes to Hull City Hall on Thursday, May 23, tickets on sale now via the Hull City Hall Box Office, over the phone 01482 300 306 or online www.hulltheatres. co.uk

Tickets start from just £15.00*. Discounts are available including £5 tickets for under 25s. (*Subject to £1.50 per ticket booking fee)
