HEAD coach Liam Rosenior has confirmed Anass Zaroury is unlikely to be fit for Hull City’s clash with Ipswich Town tonight.
The skilful forward, on loan from Burnley until the end of the season, has not featured since April 6 due to a groin problem.
Rosenior told the Mail: “I don’t think he will make it. We are still working on him but I think it will be touch and go.”
Zaroury has made nine Championship starts and three substitute appearances since arriving on a temporary basis from the Clarets in the January transfer window.
“It is a shame for Anass; he’s fantastic footballer,” said Rosenior.
“We worked really hard to bring him here. He started really, really well. There were some outstanding performances.
“I had to manage his minutes in certain situations because he had not played in the season.
“Just when we wanted him at his peak, he has broken down, which is a massive shame for him and us. It is a big miss for us whether that’s starting him or bringing him off the bench.”
The Tigers boss has not ruled out Zaroury playing some part in the trip to Plymouth Argyle on the final day.
He added that City have got no fresh injury concerns heading into the televised MKM Stadium duel.
“Everybody came through so it’s the same squad as Wednesday,” he said.
“I’ve got a decision to make over whether I do freshen up the team for a three-game week bearing in mind that Ipswich have had two weeks without playing.
“There will be an energy and a freshness about them and they are already a very energetic team. They press really, really well.”
It will be interesting to see if Liam Delap starts for the second match in four days.
The Manchester City loanee only recently returned to action following a lengthy injury lay-off.
Rosenior said: “Liam has looked really fresh and strong in training. It’s a really difficult decision for me because he’s an outstanding player.
“I always think of what is best for each individual and for the team. He was outstanding against Coventry.
“He is everything that we missed. He stretched the game. He held the ball up really well and was unlucky with a couple of attempts.
“He gave us a different outlet and he affected the game where he moved Coventry’s back line back five to six yards and created space for Fabio (Carvalho).”
It is the Tigers’ penultimate fixture of the campaign.
Seventh-placed City, currently on a five-match unbeaten run, must pick up maximum points to boost their chances of securing a top-six finish.
They travel to relegation-threatened Plymouth on the final day of the regular league season.
