All eyes will be on Sweden tonight as it hosts the world’s most famous song contest. The UK’S hopes rest with former Years & Years singer and It’s A Sin actor Olly Alexander, right, who will be hoping to avoid the dreaded ”nul points” for his track Dizzy. Watch it from 8pm on BBC1.
HOBBIES
A third of people over the age of 60 reckon they are more active now than they’ve ever been. More than half say having interests keeps them feeling young and 44% have taken up a new hobby, with hiking, photography, growing veg and creative writing the most popular, according to a poll by retirement property firm Mccarthy Stone.

CARELESS WHISPER
George Michael’s classic ballad has been voted our favourite song for the sixth year in a row. The track, released 40 years ago and written by George and his Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgeley, came No.1 in Smooth Radio’s All Time Top 500 list.
TANKING BOOZY STAG & HEN DOS
Brides and grooms are calling time on getting sozzled at pre-wedding celebrations. More than half (55%) dislike being pressured into drinking and 59% say the celebrations can be just as fun without alcohol, according to a poll by travel firm Holidaypirates.
ASTRAZENECA COVID VACCINE
The pharmaceutical giant is withdrawing its Covid vaccine worldwide. The company said there are a variety of newer vaccines that have been adapted to target Covid variants which has led to a decline in demand for the Astrazeneca option.
PRATS, CADS AND PLONKERS
The insults are all in danger of dying out. Research agency Perspectus Global survey asked adults under 28 – Gen Z – whether they had heard of traditional slights. Regional insults fared worst, with the East Anglian term for a clumsy oaf, “lummox”, topping the list of unknown slurs – with 62% not understanding it.

The bank is to close 36 branches and cut 250 jobs. The axe will fall in the lender’s fraud department, central operations, and in branches set to shut. A spokesman said: “We need to move to a better balance of digital and face-to-face services.”
