Sinik to be given new City chance

man Dogukan Sinik will head to Germany next month in a bid to overcome the injury troubles that have blighted his Hull City career so far.

Sinik was a £4m signing when he arrived from Turkish Super Lig side Antalyaspor in July 2022 but has endured a nightmare spell since.

The winger played just once under Liam Rosenior last season, coming off the bench in the closing stages of City’s 3-0 defeat at eventual promotion winners Ipswich Town in October, before being sent back to Turkey at the back end of the January transfer window, joining Hatayspor.

That loan spell has seen the 25-year-old play nine times, scoring one goal and registering two assists, having played in their previous two games against Gaziantep and Ankaragucu before missing the 2-2 draw with Besiktas last time out through suspension.

Sinik will head to Germany to build up his fitness in a bid to return to City’s Cottingham training ground for the start of pre-season ready for the challenges of preparing for a Championship campaign, which will see the Tigers return to his home country for their warm weather training camp in July.

Last summer, Sinik was sent to England’s training base at St George’s Park to work with one of the club’s fitness staff while Rosenior’s players were at their own preseason training camp in Istanbul, but the left-sided wing-man did not feature under the ex-tigers boss, who did not feel the Turkish international was robust enough for the rigours of English football.

In total since his move two years ago, Sinik has played just 13 times for the Tigers but is understood to be keen to impress the new manager and prove himself in the Championship, and will be given the chance to impress the incoming new boss.
