Pompeo fails to guarantee safety for Kurdish allies
The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has failed to guarantee the safety of America’s Kurdish allies.
Speaking in the United Arab Emirates during a tour of the Middle East, Mr Pompeo said only that he was “optimistic” that an agreement could be reached with Turkey to protect Kurdish fighters in Syria after US forces withdraw from the country.
The Turkish regime regards the Kurdish People’s Protection Units as a terrorist group and has vowed to crush it. Yesterday, a Saudi prince, Turki al-Faisal, warned against a US withdrawal, saying it would further entrench Iran, Russia and the rule of President Bashar al-Assad.
