Receive prompts to stop watching videos
1 Update the app
First of all, ensure you’re using the latest version of Youtube (13.17 onwards) by visiting the App Store on your iphone. Note this feature is not yet available for ipad.
2 Select profile image
Now open Youtube. By default, you can watch videos for as long as you want without being prompted to stop. To alter that, tap your profile image in the top-right corner.
3 Open the Settings
The function to enable and disable a reminder to stop watching is located within the settings of the Youtube app itself. So on the menu which now appears, tap ‘Settings’.
4 Take a break
You will see an option at the top of the screen labelled ‘Remind me to take a break’. It will say ‘Never’ by default so tap this to view the reminder options available to you.
5 Make a choice
Here you’ll see a number of frequencies, allowing you to set reminders for every 15, 30, 60, 90 or 180 minutes. Tap the time at which you want to be prompted and tap back.
6 Watch Youtube
Exit the Settings by tapping ‘X’ and begin watching Youtube videos. After the time period you set, a reminder will appear on the screen. To continue watching, tap ‘Dismiss’.
