Get directions to family members

1 Share location

Ensure family members have location sharing turned on. They must go to Settings> Privacy, turn on Location Services, then tap on ‘Share My Location’ and ensure this is on.

2 Go to Messages

You can now track that person through Messages. Open the message conversation with the person you wish to track and tap on the small ‘i’ icon in the top-right corner.

3 View on a map

Their location is now shown on a map. From this screen you can send your current location to them or stop sharing your location. Tap on the map to open it in full-screen mode.

4 Full-screen mode

In full-screen map mode you can tap on the small ‘i’ icon in the lower-right corner to change the style of the map (Standard, Hybrid or Satellite) and open the proper Maps app.

5 Get directions

Tap on ‘Directions’ to enter navigation mode whereby you will receive directions on how to navigate to your family member. Choose a mode of transport and tap ‘Go’.

6 Meet up

Your iphone will now act like a sat nav giving spoken instructions on how to reach your family member. This is incredibly useful, especially if family members are out alone.
