Jamo DS4 Wireless Bookshelf Speakers
£199/$249
If it’s possible the speakers look even better with the grilles removed, exposing a sleek, curvy face…
If but a single word could be used to describe Jamo’s DS4 wireless bookshelf speakers then it would be ‘bloody lush’ (pardon us for tagging on an extra adverb to better describe just how lush they are). Where the Danish audio company has really excelled with these speakers is in the finish. Available in a black or white leatherette, they’re simply gorgeous to touch – also largely thanks to the built-in control panel that boasts a very tangible volume dial.
Wireless connectivity
The DS4S have a power output of 18W a-piece, feature a frequency response of 50HZ-20KHZ and can be connected to your Mac or IOS via Bluetooth or AUX. Connecting wirelessly is quick and painless – just power them on and they will become instantly discoverable, so you can start playing music within seconds on unboxing them, although you will need to connect them together with the supplied speaker wire.
The sound that the DS4S produce is crisp and very well balanced, especially considering their slight 178 x 114 x 190mm dimensions. And although the onboard controls only allow you to push the volume so far, this can be boosted from your source device to really kick it out. It’s a shame that you can’t make manual adjustments to the bass as this is only ever polite, rather than all-consuming, but otherwise we love these.
