Your iphone and ipad come pre-installed with a variety of Apple-developed apps that are all integrated into the operating system (IOS) and work seamlessly together behind the scenes. But did you know that there are many other Apple apps available from the App Store that don’t come pre-installed on your device? One such app is Shortcuts which, when you consider that it was touted as one of the marquee features of IOS 12, seems a strange omission. However, like all of these apps, it can be downloaded for free from the App Store. Generally the other Apple apps offer services beyond IOS, such as remotes for other hardware, and utilities for internet, music, etc. All work brilliantly and are well worth investigating.

New to IOS 12, the Shortcuts app allows you to create personal shortcuts with multiple steps to run with a tap or by asking Siri. By implementing just a few of the possible apps and actions you will be able to radically speed up your productivity.

Music Memos is a recording app for riffs and melodies to help ensure that no impromptu jamming session goes to waste. Connect your instrument directly to your device with an irig or tap Record and set it down next to you as you play. You can also add bass and drums.

This handy app helps you troubleshoot common problems with your Apple devices and it can use your location to put you in touch with the nearest Apple Store if you want to get face-to-face assistance.

This app lets you connect to your itunes music library and control music being streamed in your home from your IOS device. If your Mac is connected to a Bluetooth speaker it saves you using your Mac’s itunes app to control it.
