Analyse a workout

Apple Watch Series 4 is capable of tracking every single aspect of your workouts

-

With health and fitness being focused on more than ever before in the Series 4 it makes sense to look closely at the Workout feature. You now have the ability to look at what you have done in great detail and to then analyse your performance to see if you are improving, and to consequently aim for better times in the future. Here’s our quick guide to tracking all your hard work…

1 Find your workouts

Go to the Activity app on your iphone and then tap the Workouts icon at the bottom. You will see a list of all of your workouts – tap one to see more detail for the activity.

2 The numbers

You will see a selection of numbers at the top of the screen which include the calories burnt, distance, average pace and the total time the workout took. These numbers are very important.

3 Your heart rate

Your heart rate fluctuations are displayed in the centre bar and should highlight a gradual increase if you are running or working out at the same pace. Check for large spikes in the rate.

4 Heart rate recovery

If you swipe to the left you will see your heart rate recovery stats. These should get better the more you work out and the fitter you become. It’s a useful indicator of overall fitness.

5 See your route

Tap the map at the bottom to see the route of your workout if you were walking or running. This visual guide is surprisingly accurate and highlights the power of the Series 4 GPS chip.

6 Share your success

You can easily share details of your workouts with others if you want to have a little boast or are in a competition with someone else. It is inclusive as well as highly motivational.
