Build the perfect reading repository
1 Create account
You can create a new account from inside the app or on the Instapaper website. The process takes a few seconds to complete, but still includes the security layers you will need.
2 Learn to save
Tap the top-left icon and then the cog at the bottom. Tap ‘How to save’ and read the instructions for doing so in the app or on the web in Safari. Once learned, saving is instant.
3 Your first save
When you find an article you want to read later, tap the sharing icon and then select ‘Instapaper’. You should see ‘Saved’ appear in a small bar at the very top of the screen.
4 Almost ready
Now go to the Instapaper app and pull down to refresh your content. The article will appear with ‘Downloading…’ displayed and when complete you can tap to start reading it.
5 A clean article
Notice how clean the text presentation is and how well the images are displayed in a proportional manner. It is much easier to read in the Instapaper app than in mobile Safari.
6 Make it yours
You can now customise the display for your needs. Tap the article and then tap ‘Aa’ at the bottom of the screen. Now play around with the fonts and sizing until you are content.
7 More options
Tap ‘More options’ while in the ‘Aa’ screen to adjust the spacing and width of the text. Try to make the most of the iphone or ipad screen, but keep the display comfortable.
8 Scrolling/paging
In the Settings go to ‘Scroll Mode’ and choose how you want to navigate the articles. ‘ibooks Pagination’ offers a particularly alluring effect which works very well indeed.
