Explore and master the new App Store

1 Easy navigation

Traversing the App Store is now done via the sidebar. Here you will find categories, such as Discover, Create and Work, all gateways to apps of that ilk. Click a category and scroll down to explore what it has to offer.

2 Explore categories

Clicking on the ‘Categories’ section will list all of the various app categories, such as Business and Games. Clicking on a category will display the best new content and most popular paid-for and free apps available.

3 Get updates

Click on ‘Updates’ to see if any of your apps have updates available. Go to System Preferences>software Update>advanced and tick ‘Install app updates from the App Store’ to update your apps automatically.

4 Your apps

Click your account profile at the bottom of the sidebar to see purchased/downloaded apps. Apps you’ve downloaded that aren’t currently installed on your Mac will display a cloud icon. Click this to re-install them.

5 Account settings

To manage you account settings, create a nickname etc., click on ‘View Information’ at the top of your account page and sign into your account. You can also manage your various app subscriptions from here.

6 Redeem codes

If you have received an itunes gift card or been sent a code for an app you can redeem it by clicking on ‘Redeem Gift Card’ at the top of your account page. Use your Mac camera to scan it or input the code manually.
