They don’t come with Bluetooth, don’t have an accompanying app and don’t even have a standalone power source – you have to connect them to an amplifier – so why are we covering them exactly? Simply because they are so damn good, that’s why.
Premium components
We road-tested the M16s through Arcam’s SA20 amp (see previous pages) and we were completely blown away. Constructed using the finest components, each of the medium-sized twin cabs contains a 25mm dome tweeter and a 16cm mid/bass driver, both of which use aluminium diaphragms and Micro-ceramic Composite (MCC) cones that work like pistons to eliminate resonance.
The speakers look absolutely stunning. The wooden cabinets are curved, smoothly contoured and totally rigid, which undoubtedly helps to dampen the bass resonance. The only downside is that the shiny gloss finish betrays every oily fingerprint, but once they’re stationed in the optimum listening position you’ll have scant need to touch them again.
The Concerta2 M16s sound incredible from the first beat, delivering warm, detailed sound across the entire range. They’re a premium package alright, but they’ll serve you well with exquisite audio for years to come.
