Final Cut Pro X’s Effects browser provides a range of filters that can change a clip’s colours and tones in creative ways. Thanks to the updates added to version 10.4.4 you can now turn footage into cartoon-like art. Six new Comic Look presets provide a fun and effective way of creating an animated rotoscoped-style title sequence, or you could use them to enhance a montage within a longer programme. However, the problem with effect filters is that they can create a look that’s similar to that produced by hundreds of other Final Cut Pro X users. We’ll show you how to modify a comic effect filter’s properties in the Inspector so that you can create a more customised cartoon look that suits your source footage.
