Master your iphone’s virtual keyboard with these tricks

-

You can bring up foreign character menus on Mac by long-pressing on certain keys.

Floating toolbar

Tap anywhere in the text field to bring up a floating toolbar of options that include Select All, Copy/paste and various text formatting options. Tap anywhere away from the toolbar to close it.

Type one-handed

Go to Settings>general>keyboard and tap on ‘One-handed Keyboard’. You can now shift the keyboard to the left or right of the screen to make it easier if you are holding and typing on your iphone with the same hand.

Shake to undo

Go to Settings>general>accessibility> Shake to Undo and ensure the option is turned on. You can now shape your device to bring up the ‘Undo Typing’ option – which is handy if you make any mistakes.

Move cursor

Manually positioning the cursor within your text has been made much easier of late because now you can simply press and hold anywhere on the screen to take it into a trackpad and swipe in any direction to position the cursor where you want it.

Foreign characters

You can press and hold many of the keys to access foreign alternatives. This also works on the number (‘123’) keyboard to bring up extra characters and punctuation options.
