Keep your Twitter secure
How to stay safe
Fortify your password
Using a strong password is by far the most effective way to keep your Twitter account secure. Also, try not to recycle your password by changing it to similar ones. Change it often and change it to something completely different.
Guard your info
Be mindful of the information you share online. Even current locations, places you were educated and other small details should not be shared as they can be used to gather a profile of you which can then be used for negative purposes.
Verify your login
There is a feature in settings called Login verification that will require you to have your phone with you when you login. This, alongside a strong password, will help to ensure that other people cannot get access to your account.
Bite your tongue
Try to avoid reacting to inflammatory tweets and just ignore them if you can. Every time there is a flashpoint increases the likelihood of someone trying to damage your account and your reputation needlessly.
Deny access
Over time it is easy to give access to your Twitter profile to a variety of third-party apps. Go to settings and then tap ‘Account’. Now tap ‘Apps and sessions’ at which point you can revoke access to any app in seconds.
