A simple chat board
Anyone can understand the way Whatsapp works
The Whatsapp interface has been designed to do one thing very well and that is to cleanly display all of your chats, no matter how many there are. It may look slightly old-fashioned, but it does bring order to what would otherwise be chaos.
Visual clues
Visual cues embedded in Whatsapp mean a lot once you understand how they work. For example, a grey tick means your message has been sent, two grey ticks means it has been received and when they turn blue the message has been read.
Account avatars
Avatars are very important in Whatsapp because they form the visual basis for your identity. Over time the people you converse with will immediately recognise that it is you based on just this image and little else.
Swipe options
In IOS you can swipe any chat to see more options including archiving it, viewing information, exporting a chat or clearing it. You can also exit a group using this method which highlights a number of features that are usually hidden.
Access settings
The Settings in Whatsapp are comprehensive, but not huge in number. The list of options has been kept deliberately short to preserve the cleanliness of the interface and to keep the chat experience consistent throughout.
