Step-by-step
Create a custom Lock Screen
1 Import your photo
Drag and drop your desired wallpaper photo into a blank Pages document. You can connect your iphone to your Mac and use Image Capture to save a pic to your desktop.
2 Adjust size
The image will resize to fit onto the page by default, but you can view it full-size by going to the Arrange tab and clicking ‘Original Size’, then dragging it to the right size.
3 Add guidelines
Import a screenshot of your current lockscreen, resize it to be slightly smaller than the full page, then choose View>show Ruler and drag guides for the onscreen text.
4 Add the text
Now you need to add some text. Click the ‘Text’ button in the toolbar to add a text box, then drag it to the right position and type in your desired emergency lockscreen text.
5 Make it legible
Delete the screenshot and then, in the Text tab, click ‘Style’ and use the various text formatting tools to make sure that the text is easy to read and stands out from the image.
6 Export as PDF
When you are happy with your design, go to File>export TO>PDF and then export the Pages document to your desktop. Now double-click on it to open it in Preview.
7 Convert to JPEG
With the PDF open in Preview, go to File>export and select ‘JPEG’. Set the quality to the best and then click ‘Save’. Open the image again and crop out any white space.
8 Send to your iphone
Click on the share button to send the image to your iphone. For the fastest results, choose Airdrop, ensure your iphone is unlocked and then select it from the menu.
9 Apply wallpaper
With the image open on your iphone, tap the share button and then scroll down to the ‘Use as Wallpaper’ option. Tap this followed by ‘Set Lock Screen’ to complete the process.
