New ipad app downloads up for the first time since 2013
A report produced by Sensor Tower suggests ipad app downloads have spiked due to the COVID-19 crisis.
First-time ipad app installations have been trending downwards for the last seven years, yet the report shows this year’s quarter one figures are the biggest since quarter three in 2016. “Driven by a surge in use and adoption of the device during the COVID-19 pandemic, quarterly first-time downloads of apps for Apple’s ipad surpassed 1.1 billion worldwide in Q1 2020, marking the first year-over-year growth in this metric since the fourth quarter of 2013 and a 40% increase from Q1 2019,” says Apple. While iphone app use is also up, it doesn’t match the increase on the ipad.
