Master receipts and groups
When you send messages in Whatsapp, visual receipts will be provided for messages sent (one tick), messages received (two ticks) and messages read (blue ticks). Although read receipts are always sent for group chats, there may be times during one-on-ones when you don’t want the sender to know that you have viewed their message. Here’s what you can do.
Disable read receipts
Go to Settings>account>privacy and turn off the ‘Read Receipts’ option. Now, when you are engaging in one-on-one chats, the sender will never see the blue ticks.
Press down
Now, when a message comes through on your Lock Screen, press down on it to reveal the full text and by doing this it won’t appear to the sender like you have read it.
Stealth-read texts
This trick requires that you turn on push notifications for Whatsapp, so start off by going to Settings>notifications>whatsapp and turning on ‘Allow Notifications’.
Avoid being added
To ensure that you only join groups that you want to be in, start off by going to Settings>account> Privacy> Groups and select one of the three options.
