Create a digital signature
If you need to sign forms while working remotely then there is no need to print, sign and scan physical copies of the documents, you can simply sign PDFS digitally using the Preview app on your Mac. Here’s how to create a digital signature and use it.
1 Open in preview
Drag the PDF into Preview to open it and then click on the markup icon (the pen nib) to the left of the search field in the toolbar to reveal a secondary menu.
2 Access the menu
Click on the signature icon and you will have a couple of options, including writing a signature on paper and using your Mac camera to scan it. Click on ‘iphone’.
3 Sign on screen
As long as your iphone is signed in with the same Apple ID and on the same network, a window will appear on your iphone screen. Use your finger to sign your screen.
4 Store signature
As you write, your signature will also appear in the window on your Mac. When you are happy, click ‘Done’ to store this signature to Preview for future use.
5 Place signature
To sign your PDF, click on the signature menu again, choose your new signature and it will appear in a box on the document. Drag it into position and adjust the size by dragging the blue dots.
