Password-protected storage
Store files in an encrypted sparse image
Create an image
Select File>new Image> Blank Image In Disk Utility to create an encrypted container to store files and folders you don’t want others to be able to access. It is your own passwordprotected storage.
Sparse disk image
There are several options when creating disk images, and selecting sparse disk image has the advantage of being able to grow as files are added and shrink when they are deleted. It uses space efficiently.
Name and location
Set the filename here, but do not change the file extension. This is automatically set to .sparseimage, which is a special type of Mac file.
Set the disk location to save it in Where.
Set the encryption
Click Encryption and select one of the types from the menu, such as 128-bit encryption, which is secure and fast. Select any of the encryption options and you are asked to set a password.
