IOS vs Mac Dock

The Dock on the ipad looks superficially like the Dock on the Mac, but the similarities are only skin deep. Underneath, they are very different. The right side of the Mac’s dock shows running apps, whereas on the ipad it shows recent apps which may or may not be running. Mac Dock icons show menus, but the ipad ones do not.
