Work with the Live Loops grid

-

1 Toggle Tracks/loops

These two buttons show or hide the Tracks area and the new Live Loops grid. Click the left button to reveal Live Loops and the right one to hide the Tracks area.

2 Add content

You can add content to cells by dragging files in directly from the File Browser or Finder. Open the Media Browser and drag the file ‘Guitarloop.wav’ into an empty cell.

3 Play cells

This creates a new cell on a new audio track in the project, displayed as a circular loop by default. Click the Play button in the centre of the cell to hear its contents.

4 Add Drummer loop

Open the Loop Browser and click the Beats filter button. Select a brown Drummer loop and drag it onto the next empty cell below our existing guitar part.

5 Make a scene

To play a vertical column of cells together all at once, hit the Scene trigger button containing the small upward arrow at the base of the column.

6 Record MIDI region

On a new Software Instrument track, choose and load up a sound from the Library, then click the cell’s Record button and play in a new MIDI part.

7 Edit cells

Double-clicking a cell opens it in the designated edit pane. Here, you are able alter its contents just like you would with a regular region.

8 Build it up

You can option-drag-and-drop to copy a cell’s content to another cell. Scenes can be duplicated by ctrl-clicking on the Scene Play button and selecting ‘Duplicate’.

9 Record performance

You can switch between scenes while the track is playing to try out different arrangement ideas. Hit this button to record a performance into the Tracks area.
