Interact with Facebook News articles

Reading an article is as simple as tapping on it but there are some other useful options too

- Share an article

Select the ‘…’ icon and you’ll have options to immediatel­y share an article in your own news feed or share it in a post, allowing you to add a comment.

Many news outlets are behind a paywall or charge for premium content and you may be able to link a subscripti­on with Facebook News. A prompt appears if informatio­n shared by the publishers informs Facebook that you have an eligible account. By agreeing, you can read paid-for content without leaving the Facebook app).

4 Tailor the feed

You can train the algorithms to learn your preference­s. As well as exploring the sections at the top of the screen, demonstrat­e engagement by liking and sharing articles.

5 Express displeasur­e

By tapping the ‘…’ icon, you can choose to save articles for later. Don’t enjoy a certain story? This menu lets you hide the article or all content from a publicatio­n.

Follow a publisher

If you like a particular publisher’s content, tap ‘Follow’ at the top of the screen after opening an article and you will see more posts from it.

Open in a browser

Articles in Facebook News do not allow you to read comments left directly by readers. To view these, go to the original website – tap ‘Open in Browser’.

Send via email

As well as being able to copy a link which can then be pasted in a message, Notes or wherever you fancy, articles can also be sent to others via email. Click on ‘Send in email’.

6 Explain your decision

Select ‘Give Feedback On This Article’ and you can indicate why you didn’t like it. Choosing ‘Not Relevant To My Interests’ will reduce the chance of seeing similar stories.
