Boost internet privacy and security

1 Download WARP

Go to https://1.1.1.1 in Safari and download the WARP app for Mac. Go to the Downloads folder and double-click the zip file to extract the installer from the archive.

4 Boost security, privacy

When you want privacy and security on the Internet, click the cloud icon and then click the switch to enable WARP. Unlike VPNS, it is instant. All apps are protected.

2 Install WARP

Double-click the .pkg file in the Downloads folder to start the installation. Enter your password to continue. It checks for updates immediately after. Install them.

5 Show the menu

Click the gear icon to access two options, 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.1 with WARP. The first offers DNS speed and privacy, the second adds security through encryption.

3 Help and privacy

An icon is added to the menu bar and a help panel automatically appears. There is also privacy information. Click through each of the panels until they go away.

6 DNS privacy options

Click the gear> preferences> connection tab. For speed, security and privacy, select WARP for DNS Protocol. HTTPS and TLS are for rare cases of compatibility problems.

7 Unfiltered vs filtered

Click 1.1.1.1 for Families. ‘None’ provides unfiltered internet access and is the default. However, you may want to block malware or adult content on kids’ Macs.

8 Add exceptions

WARP creates encrypted Internet connections like a VPN, which is great for public Wi-fi hotspots. Click ‘+’ to add exceptions, like your work Wi-fi network.

9 Advanced options

The DNS Logs and Advanced tabs have expert features, but the statistics are useful for everyone. See the amount of data sent and received. Don’t worry, WARP has no limit.
