Managing your shortcuts

-

The Shortcuts app interface is generally universal across Mac and IOS, and, thanks to icloud, any shortcut you download or create on one device will then subsequently appear in the Shortcuts app on all of your devices. You can make sure that icloud syncing is turned on by going to Settings>shortcuts on IOS/IPADOS and Shortcuts>preferences>general on Mac. Navigating the sidebar

The Mac and ipad version of Shortcuts has a collapsible sidebar that allows you to navigate through sections easily. These sidebar features can be accessed on iphone by tapping ‘My Shortcuts’ at the bottom of the screen and then tapping the ‘Shortcuts’ back arrow in the top-left.

Create folders

You can create new folders to store shortcuts in by tapping this icon on ipad and iphone, or ctrl+clicking on the sidebar on Mac.

You can then press/click and hold on a shortcut and drag it into the folder.

Edit the sidebar

You can manage and re-order your folders by tapping ‘Edit’ and then tapping the red ‘–’ icons to remove folders, the small ‘i’ icon to rename them or pressing, holding and dragging the list icon to re-order them. On Mac you can re-order folders freely and ctrl+click on the name to make other edits.

Find what you want

You can type keywords into the search field to find what you want quickly. The Gallery also has its own search field for finding and downloading new shortcuts.

View shortcuts

Simply tapping on a shortcut will cause it to run instantly, but if you want to view the shortcut and make edits then tap on the ‘…’ icon on a particular shortcut. Here you can view all of the components that make up the shortcut, add to it, etc.
