How to bounce project tracks

-

1 Configure Header

With a multi-track project open, navigate up to Track>configure Track Header. From the popup here we want to turn on the Track Lock button so we can lock our tracks down. 2 Cycle Area

Locking tracks helps to optimise the export process. Once all are locked, toggle on the yellow Cycle Area (C) and make sure it exactly spans the track area for your song. 3 Normalise off

Visit Garageband>preferences and then the ‘Advanced’ tab. Here toggle off the ‘Auto Normalise’ checkbox because we want any tracks exported true and unprocessed. 4 Master plugins

Next show the project Master Track via Track>show Master Track. Select it and view the Smart Controls (B) to turn off all plugins found within the Output inspector panel. 5 Master Effects

Switch over to the Effects tab in Smart Controls. Turn off the Master Echo and Master Reverb effects so we get a totally clean, unprocessed export when we share them. 6 Solo selection

This is when we pick the tracks we want included in our bounce. You can use either the Solo or Mute buttons in the track headers to select just the ones to bounce together. 7 Song export

Visit Share>export Song to Disk… from the top menu. Here we want to ensure we have uncompressed AIFF or WAV formats selected and the cycle area checkbox ticked. 8 Dragging back

With the tracks bounced to a new audio file, we can drag this back into Garageband. Here we’ll drop it back into our project and line up the region with the cycle area. 9 Bounced out

Position the new audio track and turn off any default plugins in Smart Controls. You can now delete the original tracks you bounced down to reduce the size of your project!
